How long should I stay in the sauna?

Finnleo suggests about 10 to 20 minutes, then a break to cool off for a few minutes. Drink plenty of water after.

Can I pour water on the sauna rocks?

Yes, on traditional Finnleo heaters. Sprinkle one ladle of water at a time. Do not pour or dump water.

What floor is best under a sauna?

For a traditional sauna, use cement, tile or another surface that does not soak up water. Never use carpet.

What size heater do I need?

Measure the room's length, width and height to get cubic feet. Your Southern Leisure showroom will help match the heater to your room.

Who should check with a doctor first?

Finnleo recommends talking to your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, are pregnant or have another health condition.

How do I choose between Finnleo models?

Start with how you plan to use it and the space available. Compare the model dimensions, layout, equipment and installation requirements. Save a few options for an in-person conversation with your showroom.

Can I see Finnleo before I buy?

Contact your nearest Southern Leisure showroom with the models you want to see. Confirm what is currently on display before travelling. For a hot tub wet test, ask which models are available and book an appointment.

Finnleo owner notice · September 17, 2026

Check your infrared or hybrid sauna.

The U.S. CPSC has recalled specified Finnleo infrared and hybrid saunas and infrared kits because panels can overheat. Sauna360 has also paused infrared-product shipments. We have temporarily removed Finnleo infrared and hybrid models from shopping listings while the dealer confirms cleared configurations. Hekla saunas come from a different maker and are not named in this recall.

If you own one, check its model and serial number with Sauna360. The official notice tells affected owners to stop using the sauna and arrange a free in-home repair. A model name alone cannot establish whether your unit is affected or already remedied.

Our story

Real Finnish sauna, made for American homes.

Finnleo was founded on September 14, 1984, in Cokato, Minnesota, to bring the Finnish sauna to the United States. It is still based there today.

The name honors Leo Vikstrom, the inventor of the electric sauna heater. Finnleo is part of Sauna360, a family of sauna companies with roots in Finland going back more than 100 years.

Finnleo heaters are designed and built in Finland, and its wood comes from forests that are managed and replanted responsibly.
