Genuine Bullfrog Spas® Coreless Filters for A, R & X Series Spas
Maintain proper water flow and dependable filtration with genuine Bullfrog Spas Coreless Filters. This package includes two round replacement filter cartridges manufactured for compatible Bullfrog A Series, R Series, and X Series hot tubs.
Each filter provides approximately 50 square feet of premium pleated filtration media to help capture hair, dirt, body oils, and suspended debris before they circulate through the spa’s plumbing and equipment.
Unlike conventional cartridges with a permanent plastic center, these filters slide over the reusable filter cages already installed in compatible Bullfrog spas. This coreless design provides the correct OEM fit while reducing the plastic waste created whenever a traditional filter cartridge is replaced.
🧩 Compatibility & Fitment
- Bullfrog A Series models manufactured from 2018 through 2022
- Bullfrog R Series models manufactured from 2018 through 2022
- Bullfrog X Series models manufactured from 2018 to the present
These filters may also be used in compatible 2013–2017 A Series, R Series, and X Series spas after installing Bullfrog Filter Cage Core Assembly 10-00417.
Not compatible with Bullfrog M Series, Swim Series, STIL, or 2023-and-newer A Series spas equipped with Simplicity® flat filters. The reusable filter cages and caps are not included.

📋 How to Use
1. Confirm Compatibility
- Confirm the spa’s series and model year before opening the package.
- Verify that the filtration system uses round, coreless cartridges installed over reusable plastic cages.
- If the spa was manufactured from 2013 through 2017 and still uses threaded cartridges, Filter Cage Core Assembly 10-00417 must be installed before these filters can be used.
- Do not use these filters in a 2023-or-newer A Series spa equipped with a flat Simplicity filter.
2. Turn Off the Spa
- Turn off the spa’s main power at the disconnect or circuit breaker.
- Never remove or reinstall the filter assembly while the pumps are operating.
3. Remove the Installed Filters
- Open the filter compartment and remove the exterior filter cap and filter plate.
- Turn each reusable filter-cage cap counterclockwise and remove it.
- Slide the existing filter cartridge upward and off the reusable cage.
- Remove loose debris from the filter compartment without allowing it to enter the plumbing intake.
- Inspect the reusable cages and caps for cracks, distortion, or missing components.
4. Clean or Replace the Filters
For routine cleaning, use a garden hose with a nozzle. Work from top to bottom between the pleats, rinsing the inside and outside of each cartridge until loose debris has been removed.
For accumulated lotions and body oils, use a cleaner or degreaser specifically formulated for spa-filter media. Follow the cleaner’s physical label and rinse the cartridge thoroughly before reinstalling it.
Replace any filter that remains greasy, clogged, stiff, heavily discolored, torn, crushed, or restricted after proper cleaning.
5. Install the Coreless Filters
- Slide each clean replacement cartridge completely over its reusable filter cage.
- Align the cartridge correctly with the cage so it sits flat and does not bind.
- Reinstall each cage cap and turn it clockwise until secure.
- Reinstall the filter plate and exterior filter cap.
- Confirm that every component is seated correctly before restoring power.
6. Restore Spa Operation
- Restore power at the disconnect or circuit breaker.
- Allow the spa to resume normal circulation.
- Verify that water is moving normally and that no flow-related warning appears.
💬 Southern Leisure Says
A spa filter can restrict circulation even when it does not look completely dirty. Fine particles, body oils, lotions, cosmetics, and mineral residue can collect deep inside the pleats where a quick surface rinse may not remove them.
Bullfrog recommends cleaning cylindrical filters every three to six weeks or as needed. Spas with heavy bather loads, frequent use, nearby trees, or optional circulation pumps may require more frequent inspection and cleaning.
A two-pack makes filter rotation easier. Install a clean set immediately, then properly deep-clean and rinse the removed filters. This prevents the spa from operating without filtration while dirty cartridges are being serviced.
Before ordering, confirm both the model year and existing filter assembly. The package contains the two filter cartridges only—the reusable cages, cage caps, filter plate, and conversion assembly are not included.
🧼 Care & Maintenance
- Inspect the filters regularly for debris, oil, discoloration, and damaged pleats.
- Clean the cartridges every three to six weeks or sooner when needed.
- Increase the cleaning frequency during heavy spa use.
- Turn off the spa’s main power before removing the filters.
- Use a garden hose and nozzle for routine rinsing.
- Work from top to bottom between every pleat.
- Clean both the inside and outside surfaces of each filter.
- Use only a cleaner or degreaser suitable for spa-filter media.
- Rinse thoroughly after using any filter-cleaning product.
- Do not use household soap or products that can leave foaming residue.
- Do not use a stiff brush that could damage the pleated media.
- Avoid excessive water pressure that can tear or separate the pleats.
- Replace cartridges that remain greasy or restricted after cleaning.
- Replace filters with torn, crushed, separated, brittle, or deteriorated media.
- Inspect the reusable filter cages and caps whenever the cartridges are removed.
- Keep the filter compartment free of leaves, hair, and loose debris.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How many filters are included?
Each package contains two genuine Bullfrog Spas coreless filter cartridges.
What are the OEM part numbers?
The complete two-pack is Bullfrog part 10-00416. Each individual filter cartridge is part 10-00282.
Which Bullfrog spas directly use these filters?
They directly fit A Series and R Series spas manufactured from 2018 through 2022 and X Series spas manufactured from 2018 to the present.
Will they fit a 2023-or-newer A Series spa?
No. Bullfrog A Series spas manufactured from 2023 forward use the Simplicity flat-filter system.
Will they fit a 2013–2017 Bullfrog Spa?
They can fit compatible 2013–2017 A Series, R Series, and X Series spas after the original threaded-filter system has been converted using Bullfrog Filter Cage Core Assembly 10-00417.
How can I tell whether my older spa has been converted?
Remove the filter cartridge and inspect the assembly. A compatible coreless setup has a reusable plastic cage that remains installed when the filter media is removed. An older threaded cartridge without this reusable cage requires the conversion assembly.
Is the reusable filter cage included?
No. This listing includes two replacement filter cartridges only. The reusable filter cages, cage caps, filter plate, and conversion assembly are not included.
What does “coreless” mean?
The disposable cartridge does not contain the permanent plastic center used in many conventional spa filters. Instead, the filter media slides over a reusable cage installed in the spa.
How large is each filter?
Each cartridge measures approximately 8 inches in outside diameter and 6.25 inches long, with approximately 50 square feet of pleated filtration media.
Do these filters fit Bullfrog STIL spas?
No. Bullfrog STIL spas use a different coreless filter product.
Do they fit M Series or Swim Series spas?
No. M Series and Swim Series spas use the Bullfrog Simplicity flat-filter system.
How often should the filters be cleaned?
Bullfrog recommends cleaning cylindrical filter cartridges every three to six weeks or as needed. Heavy use, high bather loads, lotions, debris, and local water conditions may require more frequent cleaning.
Can these filters be deep-cleaned?
Yes. Use a cleaner or degreaser formulated for spa-filter media and follow its physical label. Rinse the filter thoroughly before reinstalling it.
When should the filters be replaced?
Replace them when the pleats become torn, crushed, stiff, separated, or deteriorated, or when the media remains greasy, discolored, or flow-restrictive after proper cleaning.
Can I use household soap to clean them?
No. Household soap and laundry products may leave residue that causes severe foaming. Use a product formulated for spa-filter media.
Can dirty filters cause heating or flow problems?
Yes. Restricted filters can reduce circulation through the plumbing and heater. Filter condition and installation should be checked whenever the spa reports a flow-related warning or has weak circulation.
Can the spa operate without the filters?
No. Never operate the spa normally without the correct filter cartridges, reusable cages, caps, and filter plate properly installed.
